This is a precision machine capable of reaching under the moist soil and making a clean cut of the vertical roots without dragging or sweeping the roots. This allows you to encourage a tight, dense, shocky root for healthier seedlings.
The special, reciprocating wrencher blade, set at a fixed 15% angle, can work even with very small trees with a depth of as little as two inches. Made of surgical (stainless) steel, the blade is capable of cutting hardwood roots up to 3/4" thick.
The Reciprocating Undercutter Wrencher may be adjusted by the operator while on the move, controlling either side wheels depth independently. This gives you an even and consistent cut across the bed.
The process also loosens the soil compaction. Since most root growth occurs in the fall, the wrenching is done in early fall after heavy irrigation. The moist soil prevents wilting, and also lubricates the blade as it cuts.
